Pathways to Resilience was a re-entry program for formerly incarcerated individuals from select California prisons, incorporating Permaculture and Social Enterprise training, Case Management, Legal Support and Green Life Circles. Students underwent a 5 month intensive Permaculture Design Course, with hands-on activities, lectures, and tours. In the end, they received certification as Permaculture Designers. They attended many classes and activities to assist them throughout the transition, as well as touring existing organic farms and sites to help with both eduction and job placement. Timo was asked to return as co-lead Instructor and Course Organizer from 2014-2015. He worked alongside Pandora Thomas. The Program was a collaboration through various partners: Planting Justice, Green Life, EarthSeed Consulting, Impact Hub Oakland, Sustainable Economies Law Center, and United Roots. It was held at the Impact Hub Oakland and Merritt College.

The program was a resounding success, both empowering and moving. To help break the ties of the prison systems and show a new narrative was impactful and groundbreaking. For too long they are made to believe that they are incapable, and that there is a needed dependency for the proscribed system in their lives, the same system that structures them in unhealthy eating, substandard living, and low paying jobs. This program helped show them how to do the same for the community in their own lives; for them to integrate, and pass it on.
