Pathways to Resilience
A re-entry program for formerly incarcerated individuals from select California prisons, incorporating Ecology and Social Enterprise training. The 5-month intensive Design Course, with hands-on activities and lectures, provided educational certification, as well as visits to existing organic farms to assist education and job placement.
Permaculture for The People
Activists & artists from social justice organizations around the nation came to participate in multi-day justice and ecology retreats held in Oakland and Occidental, CA. Participants had the opportunity to implement regenerative designs in their communities by embarking on the 2-week design course.
Movement generation/Acta Non Verba
Hosted at the Acta Non Verba Urban Farm, for the Movement Generation’s Earth Skills Training Program, this educational workshop series focused on natural building methods and techniques and to assist attendees in installing earthen structures to serve the East Oakland community.
The Sufi Center
A design project located in Napa County, on a 100-acre parcel, including design and mapping for a 3-5 year proposal towards a fully productive and economically viable 25 acre orchard for Al-Jannah Farms. The design incorporated over 120 species, including a CSA program, earthworks, holistic animal management, cover cropping, composting & water harvesting.
Ecofarm
The 35th annual EcoFarmConference gathered nearly 2000 sustainable agriculture experts and allies for education, rejuvenation and celebration. A special panel talk was held covering the topic of Agroforestry and Perennial Polycultures.
Casa Grande High School
A Design program in collaboration with the Casa Grande High School in Petaluma & The OAEC to train 120 high school students (juniors and seniors) in Permaculture Design. The students then designed a 1-acre area in the middle of the campus to be an outdoor learning environment that included edible gardens, an outdoor kitchen, a recreational area, & an outdoor theater. The site and its activities were designed to connect to classroom activities of all subjects.
